Precautions when using the roughness meter:

  1. Pay attention to the selection of roughness meter.

First of all, you must clarify your actual measurement needs, such as measuring the shape, size, and type of the workpiece, whether there are inner holes and grooves; whether you need to print the measurement results, etc.; you must also clarify whether the instrument is a roughness meter or a roughness profile meter All-in-one machine, and then communicate with the relevant sales staff about the required instrument model and specific configuration.

  1. Selection of measurement conditions.

Generally, roughness meters have the choice of sampling length, evaluation length and measuring range. This needs to be selected according to the size of the workpiece and surface finish. It can be considered that if the surface roughness Ra is below 1, a sampling length of 0.25 is selected, and if the surface roughness Ra is above 2 Choose 2.5 sampling length, and choose 0.8 sampling length for the rest. The evaluation length should be selected according to the size of the workpiece.

  1. Sensor selection and application.

In addition to standard sensors, other optional sensors such as deep groove sensors, curved surface sensors, small hole sensors, etc. generally need to be equipped with a measurement platform for fixation. When using the outer circumferential surface of the curved surface sensor, pay attention to using the sensor to move from the high point of the workpiece to the location; Deep groove sensors are divided into 3mm and 10mm; small hole sensors are mainly suitable for workpiece inner hole diameters of more than 2mm and less than 5mm.

  1. When measuring, try to add a protective cover to the sensor to prevent overvoltage of the sensor.
  2. The roughness profiler has a stylus position indication function.
  3. Wipe the surface of the workpiece clean before measuring to avoid oil, water, dust, etc. from making the sensor rust, and to ensure more accurate measurement results.
  4. When not in use for a long time, charge it in time to prevent the battery from being exhausted due to lighting and affecting the battery life.
